Eastside soccer swept a pair with Alcovy Wednesday with the boys winning 3-1 in penalty kicks while the girls thumped the Lady Tigers 8-0.In the boys’ game, the Tigers took an early lead when Quamere Rooks scored with 36:40 to go in the first half. Information

Alcovy was chartered in 2006 and is the third high school in Newton County. The Tigers and Lady Tigers athletic teams play in Region 4-AAAA. Chris Haymore is the athletic director and David Easterday is principal. The Tigers football team plays all of its home games at Homer Sharp Stadium in downtown Covington. The Lady Tigers softball team captured the school's first region title in 2008.
